The good lord bird

1.     What is the meaning of the good lord bird? What does it represent?  How does it connect to to the title of the book?
The good lord bird got its name because whenever a man sees it his first words are “good lord”. A feather off of the good lord bird will bring a man eternal understanding. This connects to the title of the book because the book is very much into the bible and many of the characters in the book don’t have a very good understanding of things.

2.    What is Henry’s nickname?  How did he earn it?
Henry’s nickname is onion. His nickname is onion because he ate the rotten onion Old John Brown.

3.    What was Henry’s rationale for continuing to live a lie?  Was it justifiable?

Henry’s rationale for continuing to live a life because he was allowed to be emotional and was treated like a girl instead of a boy and it was easier for him at the time.

  1. Thank you for posting your response Robert. When you get a moment, please re-examine your understanding between the title of the book and the meaning The Good Lord Bird. Your understanding of this connection is crucial to other events of the novel. Further, can you elaborate on or clarify this statement, "the book is very much into the bible and many of the characters in the book don't have a very good understanding of things." What do you mean by this?

    2. Can you clarify the wording in sentence 2? What do you mean by "His nickname is onion (all names should begin with a capital letter) because he ate the rotten Old John Brown." Do you mean Onion *ate* John Brown? Is John Brown the rotten Onion that you're referring to?

3). Clarify your statement in number 3. I'm not sure what you mean.

I look forward to your revision.

  2. "the book is very much into the bible and many of the characters in the book don't have a very good understanding of things" Many of the characters converse about God, the bible, and the verses within them. some live and die by the bible, while others don't know a lick of it. Also, many of the characters don't have a good understanding of things meaning they aren't very educated and only know what people tell them.

Yes I meant the rotten onion Onion ate. John brown called him Onion after that because he smelled like an Onion.

Henry's rationale for continuing to live a lie because it was much safer for him to and he would live an easier life. This as justifiable because with this Onion got to miss out on deadly trip, the sacking of Lawrence.
