Getting to know you

1. Yes I play football and I've been playing this sport since I was 5 years old and I'm 18 now.
2. I'm passionate about exercise. I work at a gym and that keeps me interested in fitness.
3. The most ridiculous lie I ever told was that my birthday was on April 2nd instead of April 1st, which is the actual day I was born, because the doctors knew I had brain damage so instead of having me suffer with brain damage and a birthday on April Fool's Day they just made my birthday April 1st. (This Is Also A Lie)
4. I sit at the computer and allow the words to come to me.
5. Anything I've ever had to write was because I had to. I am not a confident writer and I do not like writing anything. With this course I'd like to learn to analyze text and understand the true meaning of everything I read.
6. The most recent book I've read cover to cover was The Giver.
7. I do not post on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook everyday. I use Snap Chat everyday.
8. The most important thing for me to learn this semester is everything the class has to offer.
9. My definition of a hero is someone people look to for help. To save them.
10. The last time I failed at something would be the most recent football season. I did not make it to all of the meetings and lifts on time. From this experience I learned that the little things, translate to bigger opportunities. If I had shown up to those meetings on time then I could have had more opportunities to play.
11. As a writer I am a C. I am a C because my papers aren't compelling or anything out of the ordinary. Half of the papers I write I suffer from writer's block while I write them therefore they're not thorough either.

The good lord bird

1.     What is the meaning of the good lord bird? What does it represent?  How does it connect to to the title of the book?
The good lord bird got its name because whenever a man sees it his first words are “good lord”. A feather off of the good lord bird will bring a man eternal understanding. This connects to the title of the book because the book is very much into the bible and many of the characters in the book don’t have a very good understanding of things.

2.    What is Henry’s nickname?  How did he earn it?
Henry’s nickname is onion. His nickname is onion because he ate the rotten onion Old John Brown.

3.    What was Henry’s rationale for continuing to live a lie?  Was it justifiable?

Henry’s rationale for continuing to live a life because he was allowed to be emotional and was treated like a girl instead of a boy and it was easier for him at the time.

It Is Not Permissible To Lie

To lie is tell a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive according to dictionary.com. It is not permissible to lie under any circumstances. It is not permissible to lie because the person being lied to cannot make an informed decision on the matter, it is a basic moral wrong, and nothing good ever comes from lying.
When asked a question, you’re much better off answering the question truthfully rather than with a lie. For example, your college professor calls you John instead of Jim and you tell the professor they’re correct, they’ll continue to call you John instead of Jim for the rest of the semester. There is nothing good about your professor addressing you by the wrong name.
Good moral character is a major key to life and one of the attributes to good moral character is to be truthful all the time. A simple example of showing good moral character and being truthful is to finish all of your weight lifting exercises even when your trainer is not watching. Truthfully completing your workout will better yourself physically and morally.
Lying to the people around you puts those people at a disadvantage because they are unable to make an educated decision. If I tell my mother my class is over at 3:00 when really it’s over at 3:30, she’s going to show up at 3:00 to pick me up and then I’m going to have her wait outside.

It is not permissible to lie under any circumstances.
